  33rd Annual Conference of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons of India held.
 
The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, an integral part of the Dental Faculty was started in the year 1967, with the first batch of MDS students passing out in 1969. The Department has been involved in the training of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Dental students since then. Prof. Shadab Mohammad presently heads the department, which has a total of 8 teachers, 3 Senior Residents and 15 Junior Residents.

Our department takes pride in the distinction of being one of the few centres in the country to be recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, as a quality postgraduate training centre.
Facilities
The department offers outpatient facilities to Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery patients. There are two separate general anaesthesia O.T.'s, a local anaesthesia O.T, an Exodontia clinic, a 20 bedded Inpatient Ward (12 male& 8 female), a seminar room and a dental laboratory. Types of surgery performed includes maxillofacial trauma, tumours, cancer and reconstruction, temporo-mandibular joint ankylosis, cosmetic surgery, correction of facial deformities, dental and maxillofacial implants.

Indigenously fabricated distractor for poor patients, costing about Rs 600/-
